Join fellow teachers in a first-of-its-kind national competition!
CENTA Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad (TPO) is a first-of-its-kind national competition to reward, recognize and celebrate teachers and also the first step towards the CENTA Certificates. Based on the tremendous response for the first edition, this second edition TPO 2016 is being held in 22 cities across India, with 11 subject tracks plus two Challenger tracks offered! TPO 2016 is supported by The Hindu, Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Varkey Foundation, HT Parekh Foundation (HDFC) and Central Square Foundation.
TPO 2016 is based on the Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) Standards, a set of well-defined competencies for teachers. TPO will cover a subset of the CENTA Standards and interested candidates can go through the practical assessment post the TPO to attain the full CENTA Certificates.
Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) offers Level 1, 2 and 3 Certificates for new, experienced and senior teachers respectively, aiming to create a career path and opportunities for teachers, and serving as a pointer for schools in their recruiting and professional development efforts. TPO is common for teachers of all experience levels.

TPO Challenger is an in-depth test of subject expertise as well as classroom practice in the context of the particular subject, and is additional testing to the TPO. TPO Challenger is meant for teachers who are passionate about their subject and is designed to challenge the test taker. The concept of TPO Challenger is based on detailed analysis of the test results of TPO 2015 as well as the insight from participant surveys and expert input. The test design is based on further research and rigour. The TPO Challenger tests have been created for teachers who are keen to go deep into teaching methods in the subject and hopes to identify ‘master teachers in the subject’. This year, we are offering TPO Challenger only in two subject tracks, Middle School Maths and Middle School Science, with plans of adding other subject tracks in future years.
TPO Challenger will run from 3:00 to 6:30 P.M. on the same day as the TPO (December 3rd) and will be available in all TPO centres. TPO Challenger is a 3-hour test with a 15-minute break in-between
TPO Challenger test registration fee is Rs. 750 (this includes registration fee for the 'TPO' as well as registration fee for the 'Challenger' test). While Challenger winners will be eligible for all the prizes of TPO, as recognition of subject expertise, there are also additional prizes exclusively for TPO Challenger – including a Rs. 1 lakh cash award for the topper of each of the two Challenger tracks, inclusion of the top three ranks of each of the Challenger tacks in the co-authoring of the book, and so on.

CENTA Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad (TPO) 2016 is open to everyone who is:
TPO is primarily intended for teaching professionals at the school level – that is, school teachers and principals, supplemental teachers at school level, teacher educators and B.Ed./D.Ed./other students entering the profession. However, anyone who is interested in understanding his or her own teaching competencies is welcome to participate, as long as the two criteria above are met. This could include professional fellows in teaching, part-time volunteers, parents involved with their children’s education and others exploring this interest. Please note that some of the prizes will be restricted to teaching professionals. However, everyone who participates will get a personalized confidential report and 500 to 800 declared ‘winners’ will also get ranks and TPO Certificates.
The registration fee for TPO for a single test track is Rs. 450 (inclusive of 15% service tax and all other charges). The registration fee for TPO Challenger is Rs. 750 all-inclusive. CENTA TPO 2016 will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 in 22 cities across the country:
This is a significant increase from TPO 2015 which was held in seven cities! Given the tremendous response of teachers from across the country – TPO 2015 saw teachers travelling from close to 300 cities/towns/villages to one of the seven cities – we are now offering the test in 22 cities. Once again, both in-station and out-station participants need to take care of their own travel and other arrangements and expenses. Please look at the list carefully and choose the city you would like to participate in, while filling the registration form.
TPO 2016 will be conducted in three time slots: 9 AM to 11:15 AM, 12 Noon to 2:15 PM and 3 PM to 5:15 PM. However, some of the Subject Tracks may not be available in all the slots – once you choose your Subject Track in the registration form, the time slots available for that Subject Track will be shown, and you can provide your preference (though the final allocation will be made at CENTA’s discretion). TPO Challenger is available in only the third time slot and will run from 3 PM to 6:30 PM.
